Check your local shelter; your new best friend is waiting.  Set on a purebred? There are many in shelters, plus there are rescue groups for virtually every breed. The latest dog trend of the month or holiday puppy for the five year old?  He’ll be in the shelter soon if his  adult owners are not prepared for a 10+ year commitment.

If  you don’t see that special someone, continue searching Petfinder for your area.  Remember, it is nearly impossible to keep these sites completely up to date;  your best option is to visit in person.

No breed profiling!  Bully breeds welcome! If your dog is friendly to humans, we will be happy to work with you.   Visit www.ringdogrescue.org to see these loveable guys and gals.

Black Dog Syndrome:  It is hardest to adopt out black dogs, followed closely behind by brindle beauties.  Visit www.BlackPearlDogs.com for more information and meet local black labs (and other assorted colors) available through www.labrescue-richmond.org .

I’m happy to recommend ADRATI K9 Rescue, a small all volunteer rescue organization located in Richmond, Virginia that rescues dogs and provides love, medical attention, and transportation along the way to a new family.
